Method

The tester applies controlled forces to a material sample, recording its response to stretching, compression, or tearing and allows testing according to many norms (DIN, ISO). Besides, friction testing and tuck testing of adhesives can be done.

Case Study

On mixing various components the mechanical strength of an acrylic resin is changed. While this is already observed by simple touching, the tensile tester allows to yield exact physical values on the compression modulus and elastic modulus. On application in between two flexible sheets this resin acts also as a glue. Using the tensile tester a tuck test can help optimizing the resin composition to achieve highest adhesion.
